Theatre stories are a model of the real world. Human behaviour in all its forms is there in the dramas, the soap operas, the music theatres and the comedies and the tragedies. Our little world of performing arts classes does the same with its stories – the good, the bad, the funny, the sad – it’s all there.
In the real world and the invented world of stories you can see human beings as they really are. This current crisis has already shown us what people are made of and sometimes people are not what you thought they were. I’ve always thought there was a battle between those who are mean of mind and those who are generous of spirit. If you like – givers and takers. This lock down has given us time to see these qualities in people and to sense what they really stand for.
Maybe things won’t return exactly to where they were and the world will catch its breath and think again about what is important in our lives. I predict the givers will fare better in the coming times although I concede that takers often walk over others to get what they want. Maybe the theatre will show us these things but also offer us something new to think about.
Our theatre schools with over 27 years of experience in delivering high quality performing arts training are throwing its door open to young people everywhere for FREE. If you would like to access our dance, acting and singing lessons then visit www.theatretrain.co.uk
