Taking Responsibility

Most of us went to school and we can surely remember that time at the beginning of the autumn term when we all had pristine new exercise books. We possibly made new promises to ourselves. Every page will look as neat as this!

Our teachers said things like “Last year is over now, it’s gone. Let’s draw a line under that- good or bad and now we will make a new start. Your future life is in your hands!” Well that last one was probably truer in years 10 and 11, or 12 and 13. And that’s where we are today. Except that it’s more changed than the start of any school year that anyone can think of.

Now when they say your future is in your hands – they mean it quite literally! As in sanitize them.
Young people are having to take more responsibility for their own safety as well as being responsible for older or sick people who may be shielding. It’s been thrust upon them. They have to take masks to school and who, a year ago, would ever have thought we would be schooling within social distancing guidelines?

Who knows? Maybe this new generation will be even more aware of the need to act together, to care about our planet, to wake up the world to be in a better place

They will adapt because we all have to – we don’t really have a choice. We’ll learn and move on again. Who knows? Maybe this new generation will be even more aware of the need to act together, to care about our planet, to wake up the world to be in a better place.

This is a good time to make resolutions and when we’ve all learnt that we can do nothing on our own and realise we rely on others to join us – then maybe that new start will have served its purpose.

Our part-time performing arts schools offering young people top-quality training provides so much more than just classes in acting, singing, and dancing. The skills our young pupils learn through their training with us are skills for life. So, if you have a child that has an interest in the performing arts or you believe would benefit in attending our weekly classes throughout the UK then visit www.theatretrain.co.uk for more information on what is on offer.
