Everyone has dreams. While some dream of being the star of the basketball team or science boff others hope to be the lead in the school musical. Theatretrain are delighted to bring to you Disney’s High School Musical to Shanklin Theatre. Join our talented group of students who take you on this musical journey meeting Troy, Gabriella, and Sharpay along the way in this phenomenal musical. Great fun, for audiences of all ages and sure to having you toe tapping and singing along to some of those popular catchy songs such as ‘Get’cha head in the game’ and ‘we’re all in this together ‘Book Tickets

THEATRETRAIN invites you to join them at their 9th residential International Summer School.
31st July -6th August 2017
Over the past eight years we have welcomed students from all around the World. Our Performing Arts school offers both residential and daily attendance for a week in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk. We will be offering students a week of fun, learning and adventure.
The venue is the beautiful Royal Hospital School situated just outside of Ipswich. The rural surroundings and views over the River Stour have a welcome feeling for all. Not a Theatretrain pupil? … Well don’t worry because the School is open to all, so come along and experience a little taste of what Theatretrain is all about.
Our staff are all fully trained in the performing arts and are keen to pass on their knowledge and experience to new friends. They all hold enhanced DBS disclosures and are licensed chaperones. Child Protection policies are also in place.
The week not only includes general classes in Drama, Dance and Singing, but will also include workshops to cover every aspect of putting together a successful performance. Our West End workshops have included, Mama Mia, Hairspray, Fame, Wicked, We Will Rock You, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Les Miserable. We are joined by a member of the cast of a West End show who recreates a song / dance for the students to learn. At the end of the week we will put together a performance for all parents and friends to attend and enjoy watching the work of their children.
The past eight years have seen productions of Bugsy, Alice in Wonderland; We Will Rock You, Michael Jackson’s ‘BEAT IT’ Cinderella, Matilda and Aladdin. Theatretrain was founded by Kevin Dowsett in 1992. He has worked in the Theatre for many years and has many skills to share with us. Kevin, who was once head of Italia Conti’s Drama department in London, has taught many famous people over the years, including, Russell Brand, Catherine Tate, Martine McCutcheon and Louise Redknapp. He is also the author of educational books used in Drama schools in the U.K.
Day pupils: – will have their lunch included each day. The day will start at 9am and finish at 5pm. They will also receive an Academy t-shirt and be invited to ‘The Awards Ceremony ‘on the Friday and the end of week party on the Saturday evening. Of course, they will also be part of our end of week production. Insurance included.
Boarders: – The price included three meals a day of very high standard, full use of facilities which include, swimming pool, gym, outdoor courts. An Academy T-shirt, evening games, quizzes, ‘Awards’ Ceremony party night and performance. The boarding houses have recreation rooms, table tennis, football, and plasma screen TV’s, DVD and blue ray. All bed linen is provided. Insurance included.
Scholarships: – We will be offering two scholarship places to pupils who attend Theatretrain which will include all the boarding benefits mentioned. One girl and one boy will attend totally free of charge. We ask that you approach your Centre Director and they can nominate you. Centre Directors should contact Linda for details.

Put on a Show in a Week With Robert Hyman Theatretrain’s very own Musical Director!
Our Summer school offers sessions in dance drama and singing for 6-18yrs. It is open to non-Theatretrain students as well as Theatretrian Students. Students are split into age groups and spend the week preparing for a performance at the end of the week.
Our Summer School experience is lots of fun and rewarding and you do not need experience to take part!
About our Team!
Robert Hyman (singing/musical theatre) is a Composer, Lyricist, Musical Director and Performer. He has written music and lyrics for Cinderella (2007 Olivier-nominated & 2011), Robin Hood, Pinocchio, Aladdin, Red Riding Hood and Dick Whittington (with Trish Cooke); Red Riding Hood and Dick Whittington (with Patrick Prior) all commissioned by the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Robert has also written music and lyrics for for The Snow Queen and Hansel and Gretel, and scores for 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and Make Some Noise. He was also Musical Director for the hit musicals The Big Life (both at Stratford and in the West End) and Come Dancing written by and staring Ray Davies of The Kinks.
Other projects include conducting a choir of 5,000 at the O2; Musical Director for the inaugural performance of the World Children’s Ensemble at the Royal Albert Hall involving young people from 37 different countries; and songs/lyrics for Image Musical Theatre Co. whose shows The Railway Children, Tom’s Midnight Garden and Sword in the Stone are currently touring the U.K.
In 2012 Robert was Musical Director for the Graeae Theatre Company production of the Ian Dury musical Reasons To Be Cheerful which toured the UK and with whom he was seen performing Spasticus Autisticus to a worldwide TV audience at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony in 2012.
Nisha Vyas-Myall (dance) has trained for 15 years with a range of theatre and dance groups, having studied street dance, contemporary, ballet, musical theatre and drama. She holds a BA (hons) degree in Performing Arts from University of Bedfordshire and the Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Her performance credits include the West End, Cultural Olympiad and various television appearances, and she has been teaching dance for over 9 years
Sam Skinner (drama) attained a BA (Hons) Degree in Acting at the University of Northampton. He started performing at his local theatre in Scarborough, and his passion continued from there. Learning many skills through his education ranging from Classical to Physical, Intermediate Level Stage Combat and Screen Acting. Performing in many theatres around the UK such as; The Royal and Derngate, Leicester Square Theatre and The Stephen Joesph Theatre
