Louise White – Drama
Louise is an academic and practitioner in Drama and Devised Performance. Louise studied for her Masters in Performance at Leeds Beckett University in 2020 and is about to begin studying for her PhD in contemporary digital performance. She also trained for her BA at Dartington College of Arts, graduating in 2012 with a degree in devised theatre. For the last 10 years she has worked as an independent artist, and in that time has been an associate artist with the In Good Company artist development (Derby Theatre), and the Leicester Curve Breakthrough Artist programmes, creating and directing shows across the East Midlands. Her shows have included, ‘Debris’ (2015), and ‘Washed Up’ (2018), which were made in collaboration with arts venues, organisations, and professionals across the region including New Perspectives, Nottingham Contemporary, Attenborough Arts Centre, and Derby Quad. Currently, Louise is teaching Drama and Performance at Nottingham College and Expressions Performing Arts College across A-level and undergraduate level courses. She also has extensive experience teaching and facilitating in various youth theatre settings, having taught at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Razzamataz Derby, and Hubbub Theatre, where she taught young people and adults with learning difficulties.
Gemma Herbert – Dance
Gemma started dancing at the age of 3 at the Collette Tylers School of Dance in Bridlington. She gained her teachers qualifications at the age of 17 through the UKA and at 18 received a scholarship for a 3 year Musical Theatre course at Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama. After graduating in 2003 Gemma has gone on to dance in local productions and theatre shows such as Chicago playing June and A Chorus Line playing Cassie, summer seasons and pantomimes. Gemma’s main passion is teaching and has now been teaching for the last 15 years, in dance schools in Nottinghamshire, and has also run Babyballet classes in Nottingham and Mansfield for the last 10 years, she also teaches for Theatretrain Derby and absolutely loves teaching for Theatretrain Nottingham.
Sophie Avci – Singing and Minis
Sophie found her passion for performing when she joined Theatretrain Waltham Forest at the age of 6. When she moved to the Midlands, she continued her experience at Theatretrain Nottingham completing her full twelve years with the Company. She has performed many solos over the years including Bohemian Rhapsody at The Royal Albert Hall and Uncle Ernie from Tommy at The London Palladium. She has also taken part in international performances such as the pre-parade at Disneyland Paris. Since leaving Theatretrain she has worked in many roles involving performance, from working with snakes, fire, angle grinding and stilts to teaching performing arts in after school clubs. She has also worked as part of a hotel entertainment team abroad singing regularly in shows.
Niall Millett – Minis Assistant
Niall has been with the company for 11 years starting Theatretrain Nottingham at the age of 6. Throughout his time at Theatretrain he has performed in numerous shows at national venues such as The O2, The Royal Albert Hall, Sadlers Wells Theatre and The Theatre Royal and Concert Hall Nottingham. He has also taken part in international performances such as the pre-parade at Disneyland Paris. Outside of Theatretrain he has a successful career working in retail. He is currently working towards a degree in the early years and Primary education sector.
