About Us

Drama Classes, Dance Classes and Singing Classes in Reading.
Classes run Saturdays during school term time

Come and join us at Theatretrain Reading for  dance, drama and singing classes for 6-18 year olds. Whether you’re hoping to tread the boards as a West End professional in the future or whether you are looking to make friends and gain confidence, this is the place for you! Our ethos is as a ‘performance company’ and ALL students take part in ALL productions whatever their level of ability. We believe this not only gives our students skills and confidence in performance but also respect and appreciation for each other AND the responsibility of working for the team not just themselves.
So come along…we’d love to have you on board!

Our Classes

TT Main School (6-18yrs)

Saturdays 10:15am-1:15pm

Sessions are £20  for 3 hours. Our sibling rate is £11 for 3 hours (That’s just £31 for 2 students!)

We also offer a few bursary places each year.

We are a warm performing arts school where each individual is recognised and embraced in an ensemble environment. We help each student to grow creatively, make friends and build their confidence.
We create amazing opportunities for our stage school students to perform on stage in local, regional and world famous West End venues.

All students have the chance to perform every year

TT Minis (4-5yrs)

TT Minis 9am-10:30am

Our Theatretrain Minis class is the perfect introduction to performing arts training. Our young students work with two engaging professionals for 30 minutes of Dance, Drama and Singing which mirrors the training structure of our main school.

Sessions are £11  for 1 1/2 hours.

We create a safe and fun environment to inspire our young students and help them to build their confidence and performance skills.

Theatretrain is the Company that Loves to Perform and we offer several opportunities for our TT Minis to perform locally.

TT Advanced Drama (12-18yrs)

Saturday’s  9am-10:15am (Restarting Saturday 11th September)
Advanced Drama trains students using varied practitioners to develop acting skills transferable to both devised and scripted work.  Advanced Drama students form a Company each year and the aim is for them to perform locally, in the UK and abroad – this class is ideal for young people with experience and a passion for performing. Advanced Drama students performed the play ‘It Snows’ by Bryony Lavery and Frantic Assembly as part of the National Theatre Connections 2016. This class developed a new adaptation of Alice in Wonderland which was performed at the famous Edinburgh Festival 2018 and received excellent feedback and 4 star reviews – British Theatre Guide.

Sessions are £11 (£8 for students taking main school classes)

Our Approach

For over two decades we’ve championed an exhilarating approach to theatre school education
in the theatrical arts for young people aged 6-18.

We teach our children how to Dance, Act and Sing in performing arts classes at
Theatretrain Reading.
Our Stage school brings out the best in students, builds confidence, and gives aspiring young actors opportunities of a lifetime via our large scale London shows and our smaller local shows each year.

Our students also train with top professionals in Masterclasses throughout the year. This has included West End leading Actors, Directors and Choreographers  from hit shows: Matilda, Thriller Live, Lion King, Wicked, Billy Elliot, Shrek, Fela and many more; songwriters and vocal coaches including Denise Pearson and Little Mix vocal coach Maegan Cottone; dancers who have performed with Michael Jackson and so much more!

We accept students from areas around Reading including: Caversham, Tilehurst, Purley, Calcot, Woodley, Whitley, Shinfield, Earley, Henley-on-Thames, Sonning, Shiplake, Emmer Green, Kidmore End, Theale, Wokingham and surrounding areas.
No auditions are necessary as we teach them everything they need to know!

What our students, parents and invited audience have to say about our school, Theatretrain Reading:

‘Our daughter loves Theatretrain. She did a year and half with TT minis, where she picked up skills you never expect from your six-year-old – like improvisation! The main school provides brilliant tuition in drama, dance, and singing. Since she started, she’s been involved in a show twice a year, which is a chance for the students to perform, but also for the parents to get an insight into the passion the staff have. Tiffany, who runs the Reading school, is a force of nature – she brings huge energy and care to every interaction with the students, and creates amazing shows for them to perform in. We value the confidence our daughter is building up, and for her, it’s just something she finds great fun. It is her favourite activity outside of school’. – Parent, Ind Family

‘I am writing to thank you for the invitation to the spectacular Theatretrain Playathon I attended on Saturday evening. I was completely blown away by the quality of the music and drama which I have no doubt is only possible due to your wonderful teaching and leadership. The entire evening was completely enthralling and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was truly such a joy to see young people who were working at such a high level and with such depth’. (The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Livingstone)

‘I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and all your team for a
fabulous show last night. Ellie had an absolute blast taking part and as an
audience member it was a fantastic show to watch. You could really see how
much hard work and effort the students and all your team had put in. You
must be so proud of them’. (Parent TT Minis, C. Woolfenden)

‘First of all a HUGE congratulations on such a wonderful, wonderful show.
Off the scale.
It has been a privilege to see those youngsters deliver a funny, intelligent tight show which was sung with such passion.
Thank you for the heart, soul and time that you devote to our kids’. (Parent S. Murray)

‘I feel so lucky to be working with people who create phenomenal theatre and to be able to call them close friends. And part of that privilege was granted by you- so I would once again like to say a MASSIVE thank you for all your support and help- I hope you feel it was worth it- because I CERTAINLY DO! thank you thank you thank you, I can’t wait to keep developing as an actor and to share all my new skills in class!’ (Student J. Livesey)
